Development of new fungicides, non-toxic to man and the environment, in the fight against fungi pathogenic to man, animals and plants.
Plant genetic transformation to increase resistance against pathogen attack.

Transcriptomic, Proteomic and Metabolomic studies on the interaction pathogen-host, with special reference to grapevine (Vitis spp.) and the main fungi that affect this crop: Uncinula necator (powdery mildew), Plasmopara viticola (downy mildew), Botrytis cinerea (Botrytis grey mould) and the fungi responsible for the so called wood diseases.

Effect of plant phenolic compounds on the role of the ubiquitin/ proteasome pathway in the neurodegenerative diseases that affect man, and of Parkinson’s disease in particular.

Wine proteins.

Ribulose bisphosphate carboxylase catabolism.

Lectins and legume seed storage proteins.

Plant heat shock proteins, with particular reference to the heat shock granules and the ubiquitin/proteasome pathway.
